Happy Tuesday!
Did you all have a nice long weekend? Our staycation at Mountain Shadows Resort Scottsdale was seriously fabulous and I made a one-minute Instagram Reel (yes, my dog is in there, being SUPER cute) about our experience. Please check it out and let me know what you think!
As promised, here’s a little update on my housing situation … if you’ve been subscribed to this newsletter since last November, you got an earful about our slab leak/move out and the ensuing mayhem (you can check the archives for deets)!
This week marks 8 weeks living in our tiny, sad 2-star hotel. It hasn’t been fun. But there are some good things that have come out of this experience:
I sold my story of living in a crappy hotel to Business Insider and can’t wait for the link to go live so I can share my debut for that pub! Spoiler: I’ve already sold a second story to them, too (on a different topic)!
I sold a story of how to know if you have a slab leak to Family Handyman magazine (due later this month) and hope it’ll help readers avoid the situation we got stuck in (or at least catch it sooner).
I sold a story of how to know when you should file an insurance claim vs pay out of pocket to the Franklin Prosperity Report.
My fiancé and I are still on speaking terms despite me claiming the only desk in this hotel room and him having to work on the couch/bed every day!
Lily, our very stubborn toy schnauzer, kinda learned how to walk on a leash even though she got DISMISSED from her Petco group training class halfway through the 6-week session because they decided she would benefit more from 1:1 training, LOL. She’ll be much happier having her doggy door and backyard when this is over (and so will we).
Speaking of “over” … we’re in the home stretch! The walls are painted, all 1,900-square-feet of flooring has been replaced (and it’s GORGEOUS). This week they’ll paint/install the baseboards and next week they’ll do a full construction cleaning and move us back in. We’ll be back home by next Friday and I couldn’t be more excited.
If you haven’t yet signed up for the paid version of my newsletter, now would be a great time to do so …. I’ll be sharing my next round of exclusive content next week and you won’t want to miss it.
Have a great week, everyone!
Jill
