San Diego Was a Blast!
Plus, current assignments & links to a bunch of my recently published articles
Happy Monday!
My press trip to San Diego last week was truly incredible. We enjoyed behind-the-scenes tours at the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park (I’ve never seen rhinos, kangaroos and giraffes SO close, plus I fed lettuce to a camel). But the real star of the show was the brand-new Wildlife Explorers Basecamp that just opened Friday (which has the coolest and most interactive exhibits I’ve ever seen for invertebrates and insects). We were with Shaun White and Brooke Shields at the VIP event Thursday evening and a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday. Check out my Story Highlights on Instagram to see all these adorable creatures! I REALLY wanted to take a fennec fox home, but the animal handlers didn’t seem keen on that idea. Here’s a quick glimpse of Safari Jill (which is a far cry from at-home-writing-in-sweatpants Jill):
My onboarding for contributing to Forbes Vetted is still in progress (held up by my travels), so no news on that front yet. But I do have some additional exciting news: I’m also being onboarded at Hearst this week for branded content in the health/fitness space (though I’m not yet sure what this means for PR pitches, so stay tuned). Yay! I love all these new opportunities 2022 is already bringing my way!
One more notable item to put on your radar: You can now read Jill Schildhouse's Call for Pitches in the new Substack app for iPhone.
With the app, you’ll have a dedicated Inbox for my Substack and any others you subscribe to. New posts will never get lost in your email filters, or stuck in spam. Longer posts will never cut-off by your email app. Comments and rich media will all work seamlessly. Overall, it’s a big upgrade to the reading experience.
The Substack app is currently available for iOS. If you don’t have an Apple device, you can join the Android waitlist here.
Have a wonderful week,
Jill
