Happy Wednesday, everyone! Or is it?
If you’re following my Instagram account, you’ve likely noticed that I’m not sharing the promised footage of my Sedona trip that was supposed to start on Sunday. Why not?
Because instead of exploring a five-star property in one of the most magical cities on earth, I’m stuck at home in Phoenix dealing with a slab leak in the foundation of my home… a slab leak that has ruined 100% of the brand-new flooring I had installed throughout my house earlier this year, not to mention bathroom vanities/cabinets and walls.
After 5 days without hot water, we finally got the leak resolved yesterday (a pinhole leak caused this much damage!) and can access to hot water again (hallelujah). I’ve filed an insurance claim (my first ever) and the restoration company has assessed the full extent of the damage. It’s bad. It’s so bad, that we’ll need to move out of the house for 2-3 months while they demo and repair everything (floors, cabinets, vanities, walls, mold remediation, etc.).
I’m sharing all this because I wanted to let you know that I’ve had to back out of several assignments while I shift my focus to packing up my house (we were told yesterday that we have to be out by Monday, including 100% of our belongings). The articles I won’t be writing are:
the 2 Brides magazine articles I had requested pitches for last week … they’ve been reassigned, but I don’t know to whom
the Family Handyman mice/exterminator piece (also reassigned)
My apologies if you sent pitches for those … I hope you’ll see this newsletter, as I don’t have time to respond individually. I’ve pushed back a few other assignments that will still be happening (I’m so grateful to my understanding editors!), just not on the original timeframe.
Also, as much as I LOVE surprise media samples, please hold off on mailing anything to me for the time being (unless you rep Floor & Decor, cuz I do need all new flooring LOL). I don’t even know where we will be temporarily housed yet, and want to limit my deliveries until I know my new address.
Thank you in advance for your patience over the next few weeks … I’m going to be slow to respond to emails (so please refrain from follow ups unless it’s urgent) and doing my best to keep my head above water. Get it?! I’m laughing so I don’t cry.
Jill

Oh my...this is horrifying! Our basement flooded not once, but twice within the span of four years. After installing a french drain and battery-backed-up sump pumps, we're exhaling. Wouldn't wish water damage on my worst enemy and feeling your pain across the miles. Sending positive vibes your way that you find the flooring of your dreams that will make your remodel even nicer than the first time 'round.
Ahhh omg! Sending you a huge hug and about to email you!
